History

  • December 1976

    Business Associates Co., Ltd. was established in Niban-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo by Munetake Hamaguchi (currently Senior Advisor), specializing in multilingual translation.

  • December 1991

    Company name changed to "Intellectual Property Translation Institute Co., Ltd."

  • July 1992

    Relocated head office to Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo due to business expansion.

  • November 1992

    Held the 1st Patent Translation Seminar.

  • July 1994

    Relocated head office to 1-chome, Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo. Established field-specific in-house translation structure (Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical/Biochemical Translation Departments).

  • November 1996

    Established the "Patent Translators Association" and published the inaugural issue of its journal, "Patent Translator."

  • February 1997

    Published the first company publication, the Japanese edition of Irving Kayton's "Patent Practice."

  • December 1997

    Launched the "Translation Internship" system, an in-house OJT program.

  • December 1998

    Published the book "CAFC Yearbook" (co-authored by US Patent Attorneys Kenichi Hattori and Alex Chartove).

  • January 2001

    Edited and published the book "Study of US Business Method Patent Specifications in English" (published by Diamond, Inc.).

  • December 2001

    Established "Chizai Academy" as an education and information division.

  • July 2004

    Entrusted with the administrative secretariat of the NPO Japan Intellectual Property Translation Association (NIPTA).

  • September 2004 to January 2005

    Jointly conducted the "Japan-China Intellectual Property Translator Training Project" in Beijing, China, under the FY2004 ODA Pilot Program for Improvement of Trade and Investment Environment together with NIPTA.

  • July 2005

    Transferred the "Patent Translators Association (PTA)" to NIPTA.

  • March 2007

    Co-edited and published "Japanese-Chinese-Korean-English Intellectual Property Dictionary" via the Nikkan Kogyo Shinbun, Ltd.

  • April 2009

    Obtained ISO 9001:2000 certification for Quality Management Systems.

  • June 2013

    Changed company name to "Chizai Corporation."

  • December 2018

    Established "studio ZUu Inc." as a subsidiary specializing in patent and design drawing creation.

  • June 2024

    Executive Director Akiko Kiyono appointed as President.
